FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the most frequently asked questions we get asked at Denrosa Apiaries.

We supply to NI, but transport costs are considerable. We will provide a quote for Eire. We can quote for mainland Europe and further afield but it is unlikely to be economic.

We accept payment by major credit cards (Vias, Mastercard, Amex), Apple and Google Pay. We do not accept payments by Paypal.

We want to give you the best pricing on shipping. Because of some of our products are bulky, while others are smaller but heavy, it’s difficult to apply generic shipping rates. We don’t make a profit on shipping, which is charged at what it costs us. For information, a full pallet sent to a UK address typically costs £95 to £105. Smaller orders will be shipped in boxes until total cost approaches pallet rate after which it will be pallet rates.

Our wax has not been specifically analysed and certified for this use, however, it is a pure natural product direct from our own hives, and has not been further purified.

It’s natural semi-filtered wax direct from our wax melter and may contain tiny amounts of hive debris. For candles, wax polish, cosmetics etc. it may require some further filtration. We plan to supply fully filtered wax for specialist uses in the future.

This depends on order quantities, but we normally aim to dispatch within two days. Items listed on the website will usually be available from stock. Large orders of waxed frames may take longer if not in stock – we will get in touch if any delays are expected.

No, the prices shown are already at trade rates. Members of beekeeping associations are encouraged to combine their requirements into a single pooled order to obtain quantity pricing and to save on shipping costs.

Our frames are robust and made from knot free lime wood. These are exactly the same as we use in our own business and can last a lifetime. We keep prices low by offering simple, standard items made in quantity.

Our wired foundation is sized to fit in your normal self assembly UK style frames, the same as you can source from most suppliers. Our unwired wax is cut to a smaller size that is perfect for fitting in the prewired frames we supply and use ourselves. Dimensions are given for the various products. Please check your sizes carefully before ordering. Unwired wax is slightly short on depth which allows the bees to join it to the bottom bars themselves and leads to neater flatter combs.

Yes, local customers are welcome to collect from our premises, but by prior appointment only. Please add a message to your order if you want to collect it.

Its is also permitted to arrange your own carrier to uplift your order, but we do need them to book in first.

We are not looking for further stockists at the current time.

Premium foundation and our block wax is made exclusively from our own Scottish wax, primarily from heather honey cappings. It is milled into foundation in the UK, is a heavy grade of foundation, and is highly aromatic. Standard foundation is imported wax specially made to our specifications and sizes. We find that both types are equally readily worked by the bees.

Not at this time. We do not buy in bulk wax as we guarantee that our premium wax is entirely from our own bees.

If what you want is not listed, or does not fit the volume options, contact us for a quote.
